As the creator of Garhwal Stories, I always wanted to experience the opening days of Badrinath Dham. That wish came true when I reached Badrinath on 24 April 2026, just after the temple doors (kapat) had opened for devotees.
The first glimpse of the temple is something I can never forget.
The entire Badrinath Temple was beautifully decorated with thousands of colorful flowers. Every corner of the temple looked divine, and the atmosphere was filled with devotional chants of “Jai Badri Vishal.”
Standing beside the temple, I could hear the soothing sound of Maa Alaknanda River flowing continuously. The combination of snow-covered Himalayan peaks, the fresh mountain air, and the sound of the river created an unforgettable spiritual experience.
Since it was the beginning of the yatra season, there wasn’t much crowd. I was fortunate to have a peaceful darshan without waiting for long hours.
After completing the darshan, I also had the opportunity to enjoy Bhandara Prasad, where devotees were lovingly served food. Sharing a simple meal in such a sacred place made the journey even more memorable.
Honestly, my Badrinath Darshan Yatra 2026 was filled with peace, happiness, and spiritual satisfaction.
After Badrinath Darshan, I Explored Mana Village
After completing our Badrinath Darshan, we headed to Mana Village, located just 3 km from Badrinath Dham. Known as India’s First Village, it is one of the most popular spiritual and cultural destinations near Badrinath.
During our visit, we explored Ganesh Gufa, where Lord Ganesha is believed to have written the Mahabharata as Sage Ved Vyasa narrated it, and Vyas Gufa, where Maharishi Ved Vyasa is believed to have composed the Mahabharata and compiled the Vedas. We also visited the sacred Saraswati River and the famous Bhim Pul, which, according to Hindu beliefs, was placed by Bhima for Draupadi to cross the river. It is also believed that the Pandavas began their final journey to heaven (Swargarohini) from this sacred route.
If you have extra time, don’t miss Vasudhara Waterfall, located beyond Mana Village. Surrounded by the majestic Himalayas, it is a beautiful trekking destination and an important spiritual site for devotees.
For me, visiting Mana Village after Badrinath Darshan completed the journey perfectly. It wasn’t just a sightseeing trip—it was an opportunity to experience the mythology, history, and natural beauty that make this region truly unique.
